The professional background of Godelieve (Lieve) Goossens is in nursing and research (academic and commercial). She received her PhD in Biomedical Sciences regarding malfunction problems in totally implantable venous access devices. She worked for 10 years as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in a vascular access team in the University Hospitals in Leuven, a large teaching hospital. Since 2016 she works as a postdoc researcher in the team and also as staff member with special interest in the clinical ladder and APN for the nursing centre of excellence at the University Hospitals in Leuven. She is president and co-founder of the Belgian Society of Clinical Nurse Specialists (BVVS) and vice-president and co-founder of the Belgian Vascular Access Network (BeVaNet).
