Bernadette Dierckx de Casterlé is Professor in Nursing ethics in the Academic Centre of Nursing and Midwifery. She is mainly involved in ethics of care research, focusing on health care providers’ ethical practice and the ‘ethical quality of care’. In line with these research tracks, she also concentrates on the ‘lived experience’ research, contributing to insights in quality of care and quality of life from the patients’ perspective. The mix of quantitative, qualitative and theoretical methods as well as the connection between the clinical, ethical and empirical perspective characterize her research program. She has developed particular expertise in the qualitative research paradigm, resulting in an important teaching assignment and international network in this area.
